Then others are classified as endangered species - for one reason or the other, their numbers have dwindled to the point that they're almost extinct.
Being bred in captivity, as you can imagine, may have an effect on those animals' capacity to survive elsewhere. Nevertheless, it's one way for humans to try and make up for the consequences of the wanton pillaging of natural resources.
